Welcome! I have over 10 years of experience as a professional designer and coder located in San Luis Obispo county and Santa Barbara counties.

I have experience in multiple industries, but the bulk of my experience is in website design & development. I've also worked in graphic design, apparel design, photography, and architectural design.

I grew up in Santa Barbara, CA. I graduated from California Polytechnic State University with a degree in design, and I decided to stay in San Luis Obispo. As a person with an eye for detail, the design profession seemed like a perfect match for me from an early age. I love to create and I can't imagine doing anything else with my life.

I have over 15 years experience working on websites, including flash, ajax, jquery, css3, html5, and mobile websites. I enjoy discussing modern design trends, learning new techniques, and figuring out how things are built and work. Reading design and technology news on a daily basis is an important part of my life. Design is everywhere, from the computer in front of you to the car you drive and the clothes you wear. Someone, somewhere, designed and created those things.

If I had to pick a few of my favorite things other than a computer, they would be:

  • The Beach
  • The Mountains
  • Frisbees
  • Bicycles
  • Cars
  • Video Games
  • Music
  • CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, and black)
  • Fonts

All good design comes from proper planning. Knowing a project's constraints leads to efficient, cost effective, feasible, and sustainable designs. Using a one-size-fits-all approach isn't just inefficient, its detrimental. I start by analyzing your project needs and coming up with a few good options for how to proceed. Most clients want to maximize their website's ROI (return on investment) and lower their maintenance costs.

This website was created by hand in very little time as a placeholder while I slowly find time to design a new one. It is as minimalist and to the point as possible. Feature creep is easy and minimalism is hard.

This website is currently running on my customized web-server platform based on Linux and Virtual Machines.

Below are the top projects which have been occupying my time lately.

  • Working as a front-end website developer at Experts-Exchange (CSS, HTML, & jQuery).
  • Learning MV* frameworks such as knockout, meteor, or angular.
  • Developing a PHP based website for a large civil engineering firm.
  • Improving my secure webserver platform which uses a snapshot based virtual machine system.
  • Finished redeveloping my photography website to use fullscreen images, responsive design, jQuery cookies, and better SEO.
  • Wireframe prototyping an Android application.
  • Selecting a library cataloging system for my HTPC.
